Why NO COWS?

We think it's possible to be a consumer with a conscience and NO COWS provides a place for guilt-free shopping.

We care about people, animals and the environment and our products have been selected bearing these three important aspects in mind.

All of our products are cruelty-free (no animal testing of ingredients or finished product), and we are registered with the Vegan Society.

We hope you find our website a fun and enjoyable place to shop and that you love our products as much as we do.

NO COWS Values

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

  • Our products are as environmentally friendly as possible
  • We think gorgeous gifts for you and yours shouldn't cost the earth
  • We use no mineral oils or petrochemical based detergents in our cosmetics which are biodegradable and contain ingredients which do not harm the environment
  • Our cosmetic bottles are made from PET and can be recycled (excluding the pumps)
  • Our soaps are biodegradable and are wrapped in recycled paper
  • Our wines are organic and the glass bottles can be recycled
  • Our towels are organic, so we've avoided the heavy toxic burden involved in making non-organic cotton
  • Our candles are from soy wax, which is not derived from petroleum, unlike cheap imitations that are often made from paraffin

NO ANIMAL INGREDIENTS

None of the following items which are often found lurking in the products you use daily are in our cosmetics:

  • Beeswax (contained in lipsticks and candles)
  • Lanolin (a grease derived from wool)
  • Shellac (crushed insects used in nail varnish)
  • Civet (from anal pouch of civet cat)
  • Musk (from male musk deer)
  • Castoreum (anal sex gland of the beaver)
  • Ambergris (whale excretion used in perfumes)
  • Chitin (from insects and crustacea)
  • Keratin (protein from hair, horn, hoof and feathers used in shampoos, conditioners and skin care products)
  • Tallow (hard animal fat commonly used in soaps)
  • Gelatine (from animal bones, skin and hide)
  • Elastin (from meat)
  • Squalene (from liver of shark)
  • Urea (waste nitrogen)
  • Honey (bee food)
  • Propolis (bee glue used in the general production of toiletries and cosmetics)

NO ANIMAL TESTING

None of our products have been tested on animals. We think that animal testing is more like torture for the animals involved and are opposed to the testing of cosmetics on animals, as are 8 out of 10 consumers in the UK.

You and NO COWS

By buying from an ethical business such as NO COWS, you are directly supporting us in our mission to continue to provide quality, cruelty free, gorgeous products to a growing audience.

By making a positive choice, you are diverting funds away from the larger, less ethical firms who put profits before principles and are involved in unsavory business practices.
